At Witty's Retreat , we believe in the power of mindfulness and self-reflection to promote personal growth and well-being. Our philosophy is rooted in the principles of connection, compassion, and sustainability. Witty’s Retreat is a soulful homage to our rich family heritage—land lovingly cultivated across generations. This was a place of togetherness, abundant gardens, and open-fire cooking under starlit skies. Today, we’ve reimagined it as a boutique, eco-luxury escape where the warmth of Jamaican hospitality meets conscious living.
Spreading Seeds of Kindness
Witty’s Retreat is more than a place — it’s a living legacy.
This land once belonged to Witty — our beloved father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend. A true cornerstone of the Newell and wider St Elizabeth community, Witty was known far and wide as the man who would do and give anything for anyone.
He was the first to offer a lift, share fresh fruit from his garden, or open the doors of his home. You’d hear his booming laugh before you saw him — a laugh that lit up the yard, spilled out into the streets, and stayed with you long after you left.
Witty was a giant in both stature and spirit — a powerhouse of wisdom, generosity, and pure Jamaican joy. People didn’t just know him. They loved him. They trusted him. They looked up to him.
The roots he planted in this soil — through kindness, resilience, and community — have grown into something beautiful.
Witty’s Retreat now stands as a tribute to that spirit. Every fruit picked, every fire lit, every guest welcomed into this space carries a piece of his legacy. This is a place to reconnect with the land, celebrate Jamaican culture, and honour a man who gave everything without ever asking for anything in return.
Here, we continue to spread seeds of kindness, just as he always did.
